Home Remedies For Backache

  • Lemon is another useful remedy for backache. The juice of one lemon should be mixed with common salt and taken by the patient twice daily. It will give relief.

  • The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as carrotcabbagecucumberradishlettuce, and, at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower,cabbagecarrotspinach, and plenty of fruits, except bananas. The patient should have four meals daily. Fruit and milk are advised for breakfast, steamed vegetables and whole-wheat chapattis for lunch; fresh fruit or fruit juice in the evening; and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.

  • The most important home remedy for backache oil made from garlic. Two or three garlic cloves should be taken every morning. Garlic oil massaged on the back will give great relief. This garlic oil is prepared by frying ten cloves of garlic in 60 ml of oil (any oil like mustard oilsesame oil) in a frying pan.

  • Heat may be applied with hot water bottle or infrared lamp for temporary backache pain relief in the area.

  • Excess weight also increases the stress on the soft tissues of back so precautions should be taken to control the weight.

  • If you have a chronic back problem, keep yourself warm and eat hot items.

  • Boil ten Tulasi leaves in one cup of water until the syrup is reduced to half a cup. Add salt to it after cooling. Take this mixture daily. For severe backache, take it twice a day.

  • A self massage with eucalyptus oil is known to be beneficial. You can also use mustard oil. It is a good remedy for backache.

  • Guggul is very helpful. Eat half a teaspoon twice a day after meals with warm water.
